How we keep shared spaces, family interactions and public content respectful, lawful and safe.
About these guidelines
My Story exists to help people preserve memories, share family stories and create a lasting personal archive.
Some areas of My Story allow people to interact with others, including profiles, connections, family groups, posts, comments and shared media.
These Community Guidelines apply to all user-generated content and interactions on My Story.
Respect other people
Treat other users with respect.
Do not use My Story to harass, threaten, bully, stalk, shame or deliberately intimidate another person.
Do not encourage others to target or abuse another user.
Privacy and personal information
Do not publish another person’s private or sensitive information without an appropriate reason or permission.
Take particular care when sharing information about children, vulnerable people, medical matters, private correspondence, addresses or other information that could create a safety or privacy risk.
A person’s Story may contain information about family members and other people. You are responsible for considering their privacy and rights before making that information public.
Illegal, abusive or dangerous content
Do not use My Story to share unlawful material, credible threats of violence, content that promotes serious criminal activity, malicious software, fraudulent material or content that unlawfully exploits another person.
Content involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children is strictly prohibited.
Hate and harassment
Do not attack or dehumanise people based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Historical memories may legitimately discuss difficult subjects, but they must not be used as a vehicle for targeted abuse or threats.
Impersonation and false identity
Do not impersonate another living person or deliberately mislead people about who controls an account.
Do not falsely claim to be someone’s authorised legacy contact.
Death and legacy features
Death-reporting and legacy features are sensitive.
Do not knowingly submit a false death report, misuse another person’s legacy preferences, attempt to obtain unauthorised access to a deceased person’s Story, or use family-access codes in a way that was not intended by the Story owner.
We may pause or restrict legacy actions while a dispute is investigated.
Copyright and ownership
Only upload photos, videos, audio, written content and other material that you have the right to use.
If content belongs to another person, ensure that you have permission or another lawful basis to upload or share it.
Spam and misuse
Do not use My Story for spam, bulk unsolicited messages, scams, automated account creation or attempts to manipulate or overload the service.
Do not attempt to bypass privacy settings, security controls, account restrictions or storage limits.
Family groups
Family groups are intended for trusted group interaction.
Group members should respect the group’s purpose and other members’ privacy.
Group administrators may moderate group content where the service provides those controls.
Private group status does not make unlawful or abusive content acceptable.
Reporting a concern
If you believe content or behaviour on My Story breaches these Guidelines, threatens someone’s safety or infringes your rights, contact:
Please provide enough information for us to identify the relevant account, profile, post, comment or content.
Do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
Where an in-app reporting option is available, you may also use that option.
What we may do
Where appropriate, My Story may review reported content, restrict access to content, remove content, restrict features, suspend or terminate an account, preserve relevant records for security or legal purposes, or contact appropriate authorities where required by law or where there is a serious safety concern.
We will consider context when reviewing reports.
Not every disagreement or upsetting family memory will breach these Guidelines.
